Join us for an exceptional evening of music by Callum Beaumont, from Dollar, Scotland, and Matt MacIsaac, from Cape Breton and Ontario. Callum is one of the premier solo competitors in the world, with an astonishing list of achievements, including winning his 4th Clasp at the 2019 Northern Meeting. He is an instructor for the Dollar Academy Pipe Band, one of the world’s most accomplished school pipe bands. Matt is an extraordinary musician, recording artist, and solo piper. His concerts and recordings have included bagpipes, whistles, banjo, guitar, and percussion—as a solo artist, or with Natalie MacMaster or other Celtic groups. Matt’s solo piping achievements include winning the Piobaireachd Society Gold Medal (Canada) in 2019 and the Highland Society of London Silver Medal at Oban in 1998. He has just begun a position as piping instructor for the St. Andrews College Pipe Band in Aurora, Ontario.

Featured MC: Faye Henderson from Edinburgh, Scotland.
Faye was the first woman in history to be awarded the Highland Society of London Gold Medal, winning at the Argyllshire Gathering in 2010 at the age of 18, on her first attempt.

The concert will be hosted by the Nicol-Brown committee and the Talcott Mountain Highlanders as a benefit for a special project. Proceeds from the tickets will go toward a fund for digitizing Donald Lindsay’s library of recordings of Bob Brown, Bob Nicol, and other piping authorities, and for maintaining an archival Web site for this important material. The 2019 Nicol-Brown competitors will be introduced at the concert and will be given their tune submissions for the following day. Save the date, and tell your friends!

If you have questions about the concert, please email Sean Moran: smoran@roofinginnovationsllc.com or speak to Jim Feeney.

What is a Master Class?

Doesn’t this sound like a good way to learn?

Nicol-Brown competitors were given the privilege of receiving instruction from Callum Beaumont, Faye Henderson, and Matt MacIsaac. Pipers at all levels were invited to attend the Master Class and learn from the suggestions given to each competitor. Topics included musical expression, technique, and improving performances toward the professional level.
